James Bridgewater - Principal & Chief Compliance Officer

James Bridgewater commenced his career in 1978 working in the back office for Commodity Analysis Limited, a City of London based commodity broker. Over the next eleven years James traded most of the London and U.S futures markets, and gradually moved from being a broker/dealer to managing discretionary portfolio’s for private clients.

In 1989 James moved to the B.V.I, during a five year break from the markets, James worked as a Yacht Captain doing day and term charters on his S&S designed Swan “Tikitas” which he also raced throughout the Caribbean. From 1998-2000 James was Vice Commodore of the BVI Yacht Club, and from 2000-2002 he was Commodore of the newly named Royal BVI Yacht Club.

James is a former director of Beacon Capital Management Limited where he managed discretionary portfolios for private clients and handled some order flow for a large U.S based hedge fund.

James founded Offshore Investment Advisor in 2005 as a boutique money management firm specializing in private wealth management.

Adam Stauffer, MBA - Chief Investment Officer

Adam Stauffer joined Offshore Investment Advisor in July 2010.  Prior to OIA, Adam was a market-maker at Lehman Brothers and Barclays Capital in Manhattan where he was responsible for trading all US-listed ETFs, including US and foreign equity, fixed income, commodity and FX.  His extensive expertise in ETFs makes him uniquely qualified to design client portfolios and avoid the pitfalls sometimes associated with investing in ETFs.

Earlier in his career, Adam was a Marketing Manager at Advent Software, a leading investment management software company, where he specialized in hedge fund, prime broker and fund administrator technology solutions.

Adam earned his MBA from The Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania and BA from Trinity College.  

Before moving to the British Virgin Islands, Adam enjoyed a yearlong sabbatical from Wall Street sailing the Windward and Leeward Islands of the Caribbean.  Born and raised in San Francisco, Adam is a 49ers football fan.
